I left this comment already, but I think I accidently posted it to the wrong article. Anyway, my thoughts on this article is: You make some very good points, and I believe that "there will be blood" at some point. I think it will first come from the government, cracking down on the tea party protesters and townhallers. The tyrant Obama and his like-minded compatriots in congress cannot stand to have their rule questioned for long. When "we the people" don't just give up and go back to work and behave like good little subjects, Obama will crack down on the dissent with force.

Your article expresses my same fears I have had for a while now. I would hate to see the U.S. take such a huge step back, in terms of 'civilized' life, but people can and will do what it takes if pushed into a corner. The moneybags of government should read this and take it to heart that they could very well be the cause of a new revolution if they don't start listening. Our representatives in government are just that, they do not rule us. Somewhere down the line I think the two got confused. Every night, I pray for this country. I hope others do the same.

Great piece! Unfortunately, I believe that DeToqueville's assessment of our great Republic was right. We have become "sheeple" and have allowed the tyranny of the minority to dominate the majority. (That has nothing to do with race folks so don't get your panties in a bunch - do some reading for a change.) As Jefferson stated, there comes a time when the Republic must be refreshed and generations must revolt to revive democracy. I think we are arriving at the point. Hardworking, taxpaying Americans are fed up paying the way for deadbeats to sit on their butts drawing government checks content in their condition. We are tired of being told we have to take care of everyone else by elites who are ferried around in private jets, limos, etc. attending high-priced luncheons, sending their kids to private schools, and vacationing with the stars. It is time to get the scumbags out, establish term limits, roll back lifetime pensions and open the way for new blood and ideas to flourish. Right now, we are back to, "No taxation without representation!" If we are taxed for Obamacare which we do not want - then we are without, as the majority, representation. Now recruiting peasants with pitchforks!

Loretta, thanks for the kudos and the excellent feedback. I will make the editorial changes you mention. That's what I get for not using Style Writer software before I release a post. Got to quit being lazy. :-)

Dave, thanks as well.

Thank you for an excellent, honest assessment of civilization, laws, and liberty. Violent revolution is a frightening prospect, yet I am more frightened by the prospect of a society that goes blindly to the slaughter. From a purely literary standpoint, I recommend changing the spellings of two words in the article. "Tenet" rather than "tenant" is the synonym for principle, belief or doctrine. "Secession" rather than "succession" means formal withdrawal from an organization (i.e., the states seceding from the Union).
Respectfully,
Loretta Layman

In line with the general theme of the article I have believed for a long time that these panty wearing left wing metrosexuals that have dominated the Washington scene in recent times would not have lasted a month during the time period when our Declaration of Independence and constitution were conceived and written. They would have been the ones that died off quickly in our frontiers. I doubt they could survive in Alaska even today if left to make their own way unless Sarah Palin caught their food for them.
