This man did not need to write two autobiographies. Also, unlike Obama, he was not an egomaniac gracing the cover of every possible magazine on the planet nor fawned over by a bunch of robotic so-called journalists – he didn’t need them. He was not a smooth political talker and a thief of liberty. This is not a man who loved the sound of his own voice, and his allegiance to his country and those he served with stands in stark contrast to a man whose allegiance is to a morally bankrupt party, who appoints the most corrupt of czars, and calls those who disagree with him liars. In short, this was a man of great character, not some hack who wouldn’t recognize character if it came wrapped in a package the size of Air Force One with the words painted on the side.

Verified as true on Snopes, this is the America I know and love:

I bet you didn’t see this in the newspaper or on the 6 o’clock news. The sailor pictured below is Navy Petty Officer, PO2 (Petty Officer, Second Class) EOD2 Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Second Class) Mike Monsoor.

April 5th, 1981 ~ September 29th, 2006

Mike Monsoor was awarded “The Congressional Medal Of Honor” last week, for giving his life in Iraq, as he jumped on and covered with his body a live hand grenade that was accidentally dropped by a Navy Seal,
saving the lives of a large group of Navy Seals that was passing by.

During Mike Monsoor’s funeral, at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California, the six pallbearers removed the Rosewood casket from the Hearse, and lined up on each side of Mike Monsoor’s casket. The column of people continued from the Hearse, all the way to the grave site. What the group didn’t know at the time was every Navy Seal (45 To Be Exact) that Mike Monsoor saved that day was scattered through-out the column.

As the pallbearers carried the Rosewood casket down the column of people to the graveside the column would collapse, which formed a group of people that followed behind. Every time the Rosewood casket passed a Navy Seal, he would remove his gold Trident Pin from his uniform, and slap it down hard, causing the gold pin to embed itself into the top of the wooden casket. Then the Navy Seal would step back from the column and salute.

Now for those who don’t know what a Trident Pin is, or what it looks like here is the definition and photo:

After one completes the basic Navy Seals program which lasts for three weeks, this is followed by Seal Qualification Training, which lasts 15 additional weeks and is necessary to continue improving basic skills and to learn new tactics and techniques that are required for an assignment to a Navy Seal platoon. After successful completion, trainees are given their Naval Enlisted Code, and are awarded the Navy Seal Trident Pin. With this gold pin they are now officially Navy Seals. It was said that you could hear each of the 45 Slaps from across the cemetery.

By the time the Rosewood casket reached the gravesite, it looked as though it had a gold inlay from the 45 Trident Pins that lined the top.

This was a fitting end to an eternal send-off for a warrior hero. This should be front-page news instead of the garbage we listen to and see every day.

Rest in piece, Mike Monsoor.

  1. NoObamot says:

Mike Monsoor’s name cannot be even spoken nor printed with the name Barack Hussein Obama. Rest in Peace, Mike, yours is the stuff of heroes and patriots.

  2. Tony says:

    “One of the many anti-obamas”.

How can you say this? President Obama was elected in 2008, became president in 2009, and this hero passed in 2006.

If anti-anyone, we might thank President Bush for sending us into Iraq in the first place – remember, they did nothing to us and posed little or no security threat. This great man’s death was needless.

    “Thief of Liberty”

What? Have your freedoms really changed since this president was elected 9 months ago? Come on man! Please present data supporting this claim.

To much Fox “news” going around here…. Yes, I understand this site is conservative and I know I will get attacked here. That’s fine. I promise though, Obama won’t be taking away your freedom to attack me, you will still have it long after he is gone in 2016.

  3. Dave B says:

Tony: you underestimate the intelligence of the right. We are actually capable of putting things into perspective. This hero stands in stark contrast with our current President… don’t you agree? I find it difficult to believe that someone that votes “present” on difficult issues, that openly panders, that refuses to answer difficult questions should be considered superior to a hero such as this. I’m in law enforcement and have been in the business for 33 plus years and I can recognize courage when I see it and I can easily recognize cowardice. Are you insinuating that Obama is not a coward? How could you possibly come to that conclusion when faced with the facts? He’s a cult of personality created by a group of people that can’t even stand to answer legitimate questions. That’s courage? He refuses to go on Fox News, refuses to conduct “town meetings” that are REAL town meeting, and he has his advocates pull out the “race card” every chance they get while pretending he’s above the fray? Come on! He’s a political coward and you know it. He’s a Chicago politician that eliminates opposition and doesn’t confront it and you must know it by now. Just to let you know what a majority of average Americans think; he’s a socialist coward plain and simple. He is nothing more than an empty suit enjoying some power for the time being. He’ll lose in 2012 for sure. Americans don’t like whiners and cowards and we don’t like liars. He’s making Jimmy Carter look like a patriot. He’s gone after 2012 and you must know it. His skin color won’t get him re-elected because a lot of us feel like we’ve been “had” and have re-evaluated our votes in the last election. His staff recently sent a “warning” to the MSM not to follow Fox New’s lead? Does he thing we’re Cuba? He’s done.

  4. GJ Merits says:

Ah Tony, so little to say with so much time. How much it must hurt. Blame Bush, blame Bush, blame Bush. Rewind, repeat. So predictable.

  5. Ann Lindholm says:

Thank you for the ultimate sacrifice Petty Officer Mike Monsoor. You are indeed a true Hero. May God rest your soul and bring peace to all you family and friends.

  6. Donna Tebbetts says:

God bless all the young men and women who volunteer to firght for and sacrifice their time, their health and for some, ultimately their lives for our Freedom. We promise never to forget you and your gifts to us all. Without them, we wouldn’t continue to have the rights we enjoy in America.

But where did the Obama hatred come from? I don’t understand why you added that to the article about the true American heroes. They are not giving their lives and their futures for only Republicans, Democrats or any race or creed.

Are you trying to imply that to be a good, partiotic American, I have to hate our President and the Commander and Chief of these brave Americans? Like Tony, I don’t understand that sentiment.

It make no sense to me. Of course, maybe it’s just that I am not quite so Color Blind, as those who agree with the Anti-Obama crap.

A liberal who isn’t afraid to call hate mongering what it really is.

  7. D Button says:

I’m all for celebrating heroes. This man is clearly deserving of the honor.

But why does this loser feel the need to start a story about this fallen sailor with totally unrelated partisan jabs at the President? It’s childish, and frankly tasteless, if his true objective was to celebrate this sailor. It makes me think he doesn’t really care a bit about the sailor and is only using his story for a chance poke Obama. (And, not only was it tasteless, it was factually incorrect—Obama’s second book is pure policy statement, not a bio).

And Dave B: This hero also stand is stark contrast to the previous president and vice president.

  8. Donald says:

this story is one of the many motivaters my rdc at great lakes used to help us understand what we were going to join was about and im proud to stand in the same navy as men of this quality
